Chengdu has become a favorable tourist destination recommended by global media outlets in recent years.

At the beginning of 2018, Elite Daily, an entertainment information website in the United States, released eight coolest cities to visit this year and Chengdu was on the list.

Last year, the National Geographic Traveler Magazine published 21 best tourist cities in 2017, and Chengdu was also on the list.

On the 2017 World Tourism Destination Index released by payment service provider MasterCard, Chengdu ranked second among 20 cities in terms of growth of overnight foreign tourists.

Thanks to the sub-tropical climate, tourism remains popular in Chengdu all year round.

Chengdu currently has 104 international air routes, ranking first among cities in west China. Foreign tourists can enjoy a 72-hour visa-free transit in city. It is the first city in west China that offers foreign tourists tax rebates upon exit, which can reach 11 percent when they buy goods worth more than 500 yuan ($79) at the same duty-free shop in a day.
